"The range of bands we're offering at Dfest cover the spectrum of genres. The great bands coupled with the amazing advanced festival ticket price of $30 for two packed nights of amazing bands and fun interactive tents provided by sponsors, vendors and artisans makes this a great alternative summer vacation for folks who have been pinched by rising gas prices," Co-Dfest creator Angie DeVore-Green said. "The hotel is literally a block from the festival site, add in the $89/night rate at the Crowne Plaza and you've got a weekend to remember in the summer of 2008."
Organizers expect more than 60,000 people to attend the conference and festival.
Headliners at Dfest include The All-American Rejects, The Roots, The Disco Biscuits, Clutch, Paramore, Zappa Plays Zappa, Ghostland Observatory, moe., Phantom Planet, Edison Glass, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, AM, Ty England, Ravi, The Apples In Stereo, Joshua James, Cory Chisel, and Paper Route. An online streaming player with interactive links will serve as the artist information page to learn more about and hear the Dfest showcasing artists, stay tuned to the site, the player should be going up by Mid June.
Similar to Austin's South by Southwest, Dfest showcases the best emerging artists in the country. In addition to the 20 headlining bands, nearly 130 unsigned acts will perform this year in conjunction with the two-day conference. The artists will represent more than 20 musical genres on a dozen stages.
For anyone who's ever thought of being involved in the music industry, Dfest is the place to really learn everything from basics to cutting edge concepts in film & tv licensing to learning more about social networking and marketing to really getting a firm grasp on the business of publishing and 360 degree record deals. In the coming weeks, Dfest.com will feature its 2008 panelists and a full compliment of the panel discussions happening at Dfest this year. The conference badges are currently at their advanced-badge price of $100. The all-event badge gets you access to the conference, the tradeshow, music clinics PLUS the two nights of the festival. When conference badges at other music industry conferences cost upwards of 250 to 850 dollars each, the $100 price is easy to digest, especially with the caliber of panelists coming to Dfest. July 25-26, Tulsa will be the place to be for anyone who's seriously interested in the music industry. Tom Green, co-founder of Dfest said, "Badges are selling at an unprecedented rate this year and it's exciting to see that a large number of those bages are being bought by folks who work in the music industry - so for anyone looking for a real introduction and networking opportunity, you can't pass up the access for only $100.00." Walk-up badge pricing does go into effect on July 24 and it's $150.00, so save $50 and buy your badge now!
Dfest will also include a tradeshow and music clinics that educate working musicians and music enthusiasts at every level. Invisible Records owner Martin Atkins, Columbia College professor and author of "Tour: Smart," will be the conference's keynote speaker.
