TULSA, OKLA. - The founders of Dfest - the most comprehensive music festival in the Midwest - today announced the first round of headlining performers, regional artists and conference keynote speaker for the July 25-26 event.
National acts Paramore, Ghostland Observatory, Zappa Plays Zappa, Helmet, The Disco Biscuits and Edison Glass will play to large audiences in Tulsa's Blue Dome District. Regional acts include 40engine, Blake-O, Callupsie, Colourmusic , Congress of a Crow, Ghosts, PDA, Ravi, Ryan Lindsey, Slorder, Stars Go Dim, Stop, Revolt!, Taddy Porter, The Boxing Lesson, The Effects, and The Feed.
In addition to national acts, Dfest will feature 120 unsigned artists. Applicants for these slots have exceeded 1,000 musicians, and the selected artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
Dfest will also include a tradeshow and conference comprised of music industry panels and music clinics that educate working musicians and music enthusiasts at every level. Invisible Records owner Martin Atkins, Columbia College professor and author of "Tour: Smart," will be the conference's keynote speaker.
"In these times of shrinking opportunities and expanding gas prices, it's never been more important to pay attention to the basics," Atkins said. "Dfest provides the perfect platform for bands, musicians and industry professionals to link with one another and gain from relationships and shared knowledge. Dfest and Tour:Smart are a really intelligent choice for any band crazy enough to head out on the road."
The tradeshow and conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the official host hotel of Dfest. Event producers expect more than 60,000 people to attend the conference and festival. Dfest will feature 150 artists and 20 plus musical genres on a dozen stages in downtown Tulsa's historic Blue Dome District July 25-26. Music festival times are 4 p.m. - 2 a.m. Music conference times are 11:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
