Note: We're currently building out the completed conference section of the website. We should have everything up by mid June so you can plan your schedule. - What is the Dfest music conference?
- The Dfest Music Conference comprises all of the daytime industry panels, clinics and tradeshow in the Downtown Tulsa Crowne Plaza, as well as the artist industry lounge. Conference events take place from 11:00am to 6:00pm on July 25-26. Access to the music conference is limited to Dfest All-Event Badge holders.
The music conference includes the following:
Keynote: July 25, 4:30 p.m.
A panel, interview or address by a industry member of note. This year's keynote is Martin Atkins, author of "Tour: Smart" and also a Columbia College professor. Martin founded Invisible Records, Pigface, Murder, Inc., The Damage Manual, was a member of PiL, Killing Joke, and played with Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. Former Keynotes include Scott Booker, co-owner of World's Fair Label Group and manager of The Flaming Lips and Ken Abdo, chairman of ELI/NARAS.Artist Industry Lounge
The Dfest Artist Industry Lounge is a meeting place for Dfest Artists to network. This provides our artists a place to relax, snack and have a midday beverage. These relaxing environments also have such amenities Wi-Fi, conversation areas, and meeting tables -- great for a break from the day or a preparation for the night!Panels
Conversations, interviews, discussions or presentations given by industry professionals in the Promenade Ballrooms of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Open to All-Event badge-holders only.
Mentoring
One-on-one mentoring of registrants by industry professionals. In late June, an online signup form will be available on the Conference section of the website to mentor with industry professionals at Dfest. We have mentors in all areas of the business, from booking, to legal, to marketing, general consulting and A&R mentoring.
Demo Derby Listening
We have one demo derby listening panel at the end of each day during the conference. This is a first-come, first-served session where registrants can come have a song critiqued by industry professionals. This is group session where you can listen and learn a lot from industry professionals whether listening to your demo being critiqued or others.
Tradeshow
We have about 20 tradeshow exhibitors that span from music products and services to music organizations. The exhibitors are fun and insightful and ready to answer your questions.
Music Clinics
We feature a handful of music clinics in drum, bass and guitar. Special guests come in to hold the clinics. Past clinicians include Billy Sheehan and Wil Calhoun of "Living Color".
